Frank Rich Tells Maddow RNC's 'Fascistic' Debate Demands Sound Like Stalin Wrote Them

On Rachel Maddow's show on MSNBC Monday night, guest Frank Rich of New York magazine was discussing the apparently huge, civilization-ending news story embodied in the demands the RNC has made for future hosted GOP primary debates.

Rich complains that the proposal would make the debate pointless for anyone but Republican primary voters, which is like lamenting that nobody will like a certain flavor of ice cream except for the people who like it. It's a primary debate to help primary voters pick the winner of the primary. But Rich and the leftist media are getting all stomp-feety over the demands because they worry about a debate which won't provide them with Republican-bashing fodder. In fact, Rich is so worried about it that he took the rhetoric to 9.9, which is just one-tenth of a rhetoric below Godwin's Law:

"First of all, if you look at their demands in this letter, which they're not even all agreeing to, they seem to have been drafted by Stalin. You know, they're, it's so tedious, it's so fascistic really, that no one will watch."

In the full clip he goes on to say that no one will watch "except the Republican base who would watch anyway."

But his objection isn't ratings, of course. It's poop. He wants to fling it. And he's mad because he may not get his way. Pretty much like Stalin.

Oh, and one more thing? This isn't the first time Rich has brought up Stalin.
