Actress Dakota Johnson, star of the Fifty Shades series about a seriously confused young woman mistaking her boyfriend's psychological abuse for sexual foreplay, says the notorious BDSM film taught her the hidden beauty behind certain sex toys.

Speaking with Glamour U.K., the 27-year-old actress opened up about how her role in the film opened her eyes to the "beautiful" hidden reality behind sex toys. 

"Oh some of that stuff is just so beautiful! When we first started on Fifty Shades, that wasn’t a world I was privy to at all, and I soon found out there all these different tiers," Johnson said.

"There are some things out there that are really grimy and nasty, and then there are really beautiful, intricate and chic toys," she continued. "Actually, whole aspects of the BDSM world are truly beautiful."

Dakota having a newfound appreciation for sex toys isn't the issue here so much as her saying that Fifty Shades – a story that even BDSM people find psychologically disturbing – is the catalyst for her.

"This project is not going to be my swan song," Johnson said. "It has put my life on a path that I didn’t plan to go down, but I do feel proud of it."

"It’s not that it has put me off entirely, but I’m ready to do other stuff," she admitted. "And maybe they will be sexy [projects], or maybe they will be the complete opposite. But I do know that I’m ready to move on."

The upcoming Fifty Shades Darker will premiere on February 9th. The series will conclude in 2018 with the third installment Fifty Shades Freed. We can't wait.
