Feminists are angry again, and that's always newsworthy.
On Monday, Twitter erupted with feminist outrage after CBS announced they will not be going forward with their new "diverse" Nancy Drew reboot because it "skewed too female for its schedule."
That schedule is sexist!
The new show sought to update the classic series of children's books about the teenage detective by casting an ethnic, non-white woman to play an NYPD officer who uses her detective skills to solve crime. Basically, another Jessica Jones. More Hollywood originality.
Actress Sarah Shahi eventually got cast in the role and the pilot reportedly did well with focus groups, but CBS decided last weekend not to go forward with the show, opting to go with the legal drama Doubt starring transgender actor Laverne Cox.
After CBS stated the show "skewed too female for its schedule," feminists lost their minds on Twitter and the hashtag #toofemale began trending:

Jezebel, HuffPo, and U.K.'s Metro sites have all penned angry puff-pieces on the subject, with the Metro headline reading: "CBS apparently had a really sexist reason to pass on this Nancy Drew TV series."
