Claiming "everybody knows" that Fox News wants to "eliminate MSNBC," Schultz took issue with comments Bill O'Reilly made to Howard Kurtz about how he thinks MSNBC should just become a liberal entertainment network, and not claim to be a news network.
Schultz said there were no openings for O'Reilly at MSNBC and told the host he should check "journalistic standards" at Fox News. The host of The Ed Show did not appreciate O'Reilly pointing out the left leaning shows and viewpoints of all employed at MSNBC.
Ed ended by imitating an old clip of O'Reilly and saying,
O'Reilly wants us to believe he knows a thing about entertainment or news? He can keep on pretending.
Someone, probably even Bill O'Reilly himself, must understand entertainment and news considering his 8PM EST primetime show has been, for over a decade, the highest rated cable news show in that time slot. Variety reports that Fox News Channel is dominating in the ratings with their audience being bigger than that of MSNBC, CNN and HLN combined.
Maybe Schultz is the one who should take some lessons from his competitor.
