Take that, victims of terror in Paris and Mali!! That's a good alternate title for the new DNC ad above that is, in a word, mind-numbingly, unbelievably, preposterously stupid, idiotic, and out of touch. Okay so more than one word.
In the ad, the Democrats suggest that calling radical Islamic terror "radical Islamic terror" is some weird and hateful quirk of Republican politicians that no reasonable person agrees with. Not even the Master of Evil, George W. Bush himself!
This distinctly echoes the Dems' cowardly candidates at the last debate, and Hillary's big ISIS strategy speech yesterday that amounted to "Eh, what he said" as she nods at Obama. It also follows Obama's announcement of his strategy to veto checking people before them come to this country from Syria.
Yesterday Andrea Mitchell revealed exactly how the Dems feel about such things. They're far more interested in the tolerance awards than they are common sense, reasonable security, or indeed the safety of American men, women, and children.
The truth is that radical Islam is the exactly correct phrase. Hillary's speech yesterday revealed the absolute lack of substance in the constant Democrat appeal to liberal piety. It's a breathtaking cognitive dissonance on their part.
It's also bad election politics. At Mediaite, Alex Griswold breaks out the political boneheadedness of the ad:
To begin with, the ad is horribly tone-deaf. I don’t doubt that the decision-makers in the Democratic Party are horrified by the phrase “radical Islam.” But a new poll released today on the issue found that a supermajority of Americans agree that the United States is at war with radical Islam, including 56% of Democratic voters. Only 24% of the country agrees with the president. So right off the bat, the Democratic Party is attacking Republicans for a stance their own voters agree with.
But of course, the ad attacked Republicans for just saying “radical Islam,” not saying we’re at war with it. Well, 92% of Americans also say “radical Islamic terrorism” is a serious threat to the United States. But hey, at least the DNC is making inroads with that 8%.
But if you ignore history, political savvy, and accuracy and embrace the two-faced, moronic, grave-spitting, then you could say it's as least as good an ad as the one put out by ISIS this week featuring New York City. And come to think of it, equally insulting to Americans.
