Hatred for white people and police is now among the slogans for several hoodies sold online from students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The hoodies, sold on an Etsy.com page, contain slogans like "All White People Are Racist" and ones that suggest bringing violence upon police officers like this one: "If I Encounter Another Cop With A God Complex I’m Going To Have To Show The World That They Are Human."
According to the Facebook page of Eneale Pickett linking to the hoodies, "racism is a set of systematic, institutional, cultural, and epistemological (although not limited to said forms) structures that inherently empowers white folk and in turn disempowers people of color. This power dictates who lives, have [sic] housing, access to education/healthcare etc. Racism has little to do with hatred and mostly to do with who has power."
"White folk or those who see themselves as white are given said power inherently regardless of socioeconomic class, education etc," the description continued. "This is why white men created race in the first place – to maintain power. Racism gave birth to the idea of race. This is a [sic] oversimplified definition."
"The original photo was taken down by Facebook for not meeting community standards," reports Red Alert Politics, "but the description of the post, made by Eneale Pickett, including the link to sell the various sweatshirts remained."
"POET | FIRST WAVE SCHOLAR" Pickett has been receiving racially charged messages on social media since the post went up.
