CNN's New Day with Jeffrey Toobin and Christiane Amanpour descended into more left-wing hysteria Wednesday as the pair fretted about the so-called "far right" Europeans who congratulated Donald Trump on his victory. The duo also bemoaned the impending calamity of a potential Trump-appointed Supreme Court justice.
Newsbusters once again found a real gem. Listen to Toobin's dystopian post-Trump fantasy in which gays and immigrants are thrown in internment camps:
“That means limitations on gay rights," Toobin lamented.
"It means less [sic] rights for immigrants, that easier deportations and this is, you know, what he ran on. It means a criminal prosecution of Hillary Clinton and I think all these things are going to happen because this is the core of what he promised."
Why should he feel pressure to do anything? This is a guy who made campaign promises and, like most politicians, he’s going to keep those campaign promises. He’s going to have mass deportations. He’s going to have an investigation and prosecution of Hillary Clinton. This is what he ran on and this is why he won.
Amanpour then clutched her pearls over the the so-called "far-right" Europeans who praised Trump's victory:
What’s rather troubling is that some of the most eager and jubilant congratulations come from the leaders of far right, nationalist movements in Europe. Geert Wilders, who jumped up and down tweeting that now it’s time for Netherlands to take back their country. For the Dutch, read keep others out and we’ve had Nigel Farage jumping up and down, saying this is fantastic. I hand over the mantle, this what he tweeted to Donald Trump. Two big revolutions in 2016[.]
"Then you’ve had the German Vice-Chancellor who has a put a word of sort of caution out and I’ll read you what he said," admonished Amanpour before quoting the statesman thusly, "Trump is the pioneer of a new authoritarian and chauvinist international movement."
"He is also a warning for us."
Indeed he is, Amanpour. The only difference is we see that as a good thing.
