CNN anchor Anderson Cooper's "late night experiment," AC360 Later, has been removed from the networks primetime lineup, According to MediaBistro.com. The show recently debuted in September but did not air consistently. Staff members from the show are reported to be dispersed to other positions within CNN. Cooper himself is in no danger, as he has a contract extension through 2016.
No doubt as viewership is steadily declining, CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker is shuffling programming in order to save the sinking ship. In January, 40 journalists were fired to lighten the load.
Zucker has said that "a news channel cannot subsist on news alone," yet it is becoming more and more apparent that this news channel may not be able to subsist at all.
