Chicago's Weekend Body Count: 6 Dead, 35 Shot

Since Friday evening, six people have been killed and 35 more people were wounded in shootings around the strictly gun-controlled Chicago area.

The last victim of the weekend's murder spree took place at a birthday party in the University Village neighborhood. According to police, someone opened fire on the party at 2:20 a.m. Everick Coleman,43, was shot in the head and the chest and pronounced dead on the scene.

His lady friend was also shot in the left arm and the back.

While this shooting was taking place, a 17-year-old was gunned down on the South Side.

The first fatal shooting of the weekend left an 18-year-old dead.

Miguel Bahena, 18, was walking in the 2100 block of West Devon Avenue when a gunman in a gray hoodie and light blue pants shot him in the chest, authorities said. Bahena, of the 5600 block of North Campbell, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:37 a.m.

 The first week of August in Democrat-controlled Chicago comes to a close with 13 shot and killed, 83 shot and wounded, (a total of 96 people shot) and 15 total homicides.
