Disgraced anchor Brian Williams will return to the air on Tuesday for coverage of the Pope's visit to the United States. The former anchor of NBC Nightly News will anchor the Pope coverage on liberal cable station MSNBC. Williams is "not expected to speak further on air about the controversy that led to his demotion from NBC."

Williams, who has worked at NBC for 22 years, was suspended in February after being challenged about his claim that he was on a helicopter that had been hit by enemy fire and forced down in Iraq in 2003. Veterans from the convoy questioned Williams' story on Facebook. Williams eventually recanted the story on air after Stars and Stripes published a story about their online exchange.

After suspending him, NBC News launched in an internal investigation. Williams was brought back after agreeing to take a substantial pay cut to rejoin MSNBC. His replacement during the suspension, NBC News veteran Lester Holt, was named permanent anchor for NBC News' flagship program.

MSNBC is "looking to focus more on news and less on commentary" writes USA Today. Williams will work at the breaking news desk and also as breaking news anchor when Lester Holt, the man who replaced Williams after the scandal, is not available.
