Rock icon Bono of U2 still hasn't found what he's looking for... in a presidential candidate. He believes real-estate mogul Donald Trump's bid for POTUS to be "potentially the worst idea" in American history.
Speaking with CBS on Tuesday, Bono lamented on the rise of Trump, saying he may undo all that America stands for.
"Look, America is like the best idea the world ever came up with," Bono said. "But Donald Trump is potentially the worst idea that ever happened to America. Potentially."
The musician went on to accuse Trump of hijacking the Republican Party, which may have very dangerous consequences.
"That idea is bound up in justice and equality for all — equality and justice for all, you know," he continued. "I think he’s hijacked the party. I think he’s trying to hijack the idea of America. And I think it’s bigger than all of us. I think it’s — it’s — this is really dangerous."
Bono's political views have been largely grey over the years, working with both Republican and Democratic administrations for his philanthropic enterprises in Africa.
Bono may dislike Donald Trump, but for the professed Christian to call him the "worst idea" ever for America seems rather excessive. Not abortion? Not slavery? Not Hillary?
