Joe Biden has denounced the British people's vote to divorce themselves from the European Union, saying it was all concocted by a bunch of "demagogues peddling xenophobia."

Speaking before an audience in Ireland, Biden assured people that the "special relationship" between the U.S. and U.K. will remain in place while also fretting over not getting his one-world way. 

"We preferred a different outcome. And I imagine many of you here felt the same way," Biden said at Trinity College in Dublin." I want to assure all of you in this room that America’s special bond with the United Kingdom runs deep, and it will endure. And our relationship with Ireland and the European Union will remain the cornerstone of our global engagement."

Later Friday, VP Joe Biden sharpened his blades a bit and began hacking away at Brexit voters, calling them racists, bigots, xenophobes -- the usual suspects. 

"We see it in Europe and around the world," Biden said. "And we see it today in the United States, where some politicians find it convenient to scapegoat immigrants instead of welcoming them, play to our fears rather than appeal to our better natures, divide us based on religion or ethnicity rather than unite us in our common humanity, and build walls between nations when we should be building bridges among us."

"In the face of rising xenophobia, we must remember the dreams of our ancestors who left everything to board ships that for many became coffins. Or how many great-grandparents, and grandparents made it, but were turned away from a job and decent life."
