Huffington Post is touting a poll it conducted along with YouGov which has discovered that nearly half of Americans are opposed to US intervention -- or intervention by anyone else -- in Ukraine.

Of its respondents, HuffPo reports that:

Forty-six percent said the United States has no responsibility to protect Ukraine in the case of a Russian invasion, while only 18 percent said it does.

Of course, only a paltry 17 percent of those surveyed claimed to be following the crisis “very closely” with a massive 42 percent saying they haven’t been following events “closely at all.”

While HuffPo tries to frame the polling as evidence of war-weariness among Americans, its results might just as easily symbolize the extreme rudderlessness of a population whose own President often downplays America’s global responsibilities – especially to its allies – and who, along with a fawning media elite, has mocked any assertions that Russia is a threat to US interests.

Over forty percent of those surveyed said they believe Russia has already invaded Ukraine, but a slightly larger 44% aren’t sure if anyone should do anything about it.
