A video produced by American Commitment features two teachers who have had their work hours cut because of the employer mandate inside the Affordable Care Act. In the video, they ask for their hours back.

Teacher Elizabeth Honaker from Sparta, TN has forged a proud career in education. But in 2013, her supervisor informed her that the school's adherence to Obamacare would forbid allowing Honaker to teach more than 18 credit hours per year. "Otherwise, we have to give you health care," Honaker relayed.

Charlie Liebert from Greensboro, NC has been an adjunct instructor for twelve years. He explains his experience: "I used to teach seven courses. Now, I can only teach four as a result of Obamacare. So that's a 40 percent decrease in my compensation. I'd like to work more than 30 hours, but Obamacare says I can't. That's absurd."

"The whole employer mandate is a burden that has affected more and more people because they cut our hours instead of providing the health care," Honaker adds.

The video is urging Congress to end the Obamacare employer mandate, echoing the sentiments of columnist Catherine Rampell who wrote early this year in The Washington Post:

Republicans are right: The employer health insurance mandate is dumb.

But gently rejiggering it, as the GOP is trying to do, is not the solution. The mandate should instead get full death-panel treatment and be euthanized once and for all.
