The leftist news media would have us believe that, along with the rise of Donald Trump, racists and bigots have been emboldened to commit hate crimes. Several more supposed such crimes have turned out -- shocker! -- to be hoaxes.

The Washington Times reports that police arrested Andrew McClinton (pictured above) Wednesday and charged him with arson for setting fire to a predominantly black church in Greenville, Mississippi, and spray-painting it with the words “Vote Trump” on November 1. McClinton is black and a member of the church.

Writing in the Daily Beast on November 6, journalist Justin Glawe laid the blame for this at Trump's doorstep for failing to denounce " terrorism done in his own name,” even though the Trump campaign did release a statement condemning it.

Police charged An 18-year-old Muslim student in Louisiana told campus police at the University of Louisiana that she was robbed and had her hijab removed from her head by two white men who yelled racial slurs. One of the men was wearing a Trump hat, she claimed. She later admitted to fabricating the story.

Meanwhile The Daily Caller reports that Jasskirat Saini was arrested Tuesday following an investigation that he drew swastikas and the letters “KKK” on a men’s bathroom wall at Nassau Community College on Oct. 15. Later that month several more were found, and two more such incidents in December. Police actually caught Saini Tuesday in the act of drawing two swastikas on the exterior of a building and “KKK” on the floor of another. He is being charged with Aggravated Harassment in connection with 110 anti-Semitic drawings.

The initial assumption, of course, was that white Trump supporters were behind it. As The Daily Caller notes, the Long Island Press wrote, “Although three of the incidents occurred before Nov. 8, the latest discovery has further troubled minority and Jewish groups amid a surge of hate crimes across the country following the election of Donald Trump.”
