South Park is entering its 20th season and its upcoming first episode goes after 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s protest of the national anthem. Brand new lyrics written to the tune of "The Star-Spangled Banner" hilariously mock the NFL millionaire brat. Serendipitously, a promo for the season appeared during Monday Night Football.
The Twitter message gives a taste of what to expect from the show that relentlessly makes fun of everybody and everything. Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creative forces behind South Park, understand that everybody hates the police until they need them. They ask, “Don’t sit this one out!” Ha!
Here are the lyrics:
Colin Kaepernick is brave
Cops are pigs, cops are pigs
Wait, someone just took my stuff, I need to call the cops
Oh, no, I just said cops are pigs
Who’s gonna help me get my stuff?
Why did I listen to Colin Kaepernick,
He’s not even any good
Oh, I just got all my stuff back
Cops are pigs again, cops are pigs
Colin Kaepernick’s a good backup…
As Newsbusters noted, South Park has previously commented on police hate/need in its season 19 episode, "Naughty Ninjas," in which the town runs off all the cops “only to realize they need them when ‘ISIS’ takes over and homeless people start camping out outside Whole Foods.”
