At the annual “Celebrate Israel Parade,” New York’s Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and the UJA have decided to shamefully allow the extremist, radical anti-Israel New Israel Fund to march.
New Israel Fund recently funded an organization which petitioned Israel’s Supreme Court on behalf of the terrorists who murdered five Israelis in a brutal massacre during morning prayers in Jerusalem. The same organization petitioned on behalf of the terrorists’ families. NIF also funds numerous groups hostile to Israel.
This group is the “partner” of the JCRC and UJA.
One wonders how many JCRC or UJA donors support the viewpoints of Alma Biblash, the Executive Director of the Human Rights Defenders Fund (HRDF), an organization to which the NIF authorized grants worth $332,625 from 2011-2013. HRDF has called Israel “racist,” and “murderous,” and described the country as a “temporary Jewish apartheid state.” Biblash supports Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaigns and promotes the Palestinian ‘right of return.’ While there are Knesset members who have accused NIF of “lobbying and funding activities that are all part of a campaign to destabilize the IDF,” one wonders during times like these how many of their donors are actually aware of their partner organizations calling Israel a “temporary Jewish apartheid state.”
Birthright will no longer work with the radical, extremist organization New Israel Fund (NIF), yet Alisa Doctoroff, President of the UJA Federation of New York is a personal donor to NIF, as revealed here in their annual report. Shameful.
Another NIF grantee, Adalah, which has been given $1,673,634 by NIF in the last 5 years, recently launched a “Discriminatory Laws in Israel” database on its website. The New Israel Fund also gives money to B’Tselem, an organization which sends selectively-edited videos of soldiers “attacking” to left-leaning media to create a public relations nightmare for Israel. Lizi Sagi, former director of intelligence for B'Tzelem said, "The state of Israel actually proves its adherence to the values of Nazism." Sagi continues by suggesting that Israelis believe, "We are ready to kill 1,500 people regardless of race, religion or gender, as long as our national erection will continue. Israeli tanks have turned into Israeli Viagra.” This New Israel Fund grantee then said, "For me, Israeli Memorial Day is a big sin, its purpose has become a pornographic coronation circus of bereavement."
Breaking the Silence (Shovrim Shtika) provided information to the United Nations Human Rights Council that was pivotal to the 2009 Goldstone Report accusing Israel of war crimes during the Gaza incursion. The committee that wrote the Goldstone Report received over 90% of their information against Israel and the IDF from Israeli non-governmental organizations that were funded by the New Israel Fund. Breaking the Silence is currently providing more information to the U.N. to create a similar report for the Gaza War of 2014. These are the people with whom JCRC & UJA are partnering with for the annual Pro-Israel parade?
The President of UJA, Alisa Doctoroff funds causes which benefit the families of Arab terrorists who kill Jews in Jerusalem, and Michael Miller & the JCRC partner with NIF. Shameful.
Some of us put money in charity (tzedekah) boxes – others give charity to help protect the families of terrorists. The JCRC & UJA must not allow the New Israel Fund to march in the Israel Day Parade.
Ronn Torossian is an entrepreneur – who loves the Israel Day Parade.
