Rahm Emanuel Declares Chicago Public Schools ‘Trump-Free Zone

The Godfather of little sanctuaries.

On Tuesday, President Trump announced the end to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, better known as DACA, or Obama’s Dreamers program. Since 2012, 800,000 children whose parents came to the United States illegally have been protected from deportation as long as they met certain criteria. The Trump administration is taking steps to remove those protections to ease the financial burden on the country and to enforce the law.

But that’s not something Chicago mayor and Obama pal Rahm Emanuel is worried about at all. He just declared all the public schools to be “Trump-free zones:”

“To all the Dreamers that are here in this room and in the city of Chicago: You are welcome in the city of Chicago. This is your home. And you have nothing to worry about.

“Chicago, our schools, our neighborhoods, our city, as it relates to what President Trump said, will be a Trump-free zone. You have nothing to worry about. And I want you to know this, and I want your families to know this. And rest assured, I want you to come to school … and pursue your dreams.”

Echoing the mayor is Chicago Public Schools CEO Forrest Claypool who declared his system a “sanctuary”:

“We do not allow federal agents on these grounds and in this building. You are safe and secure here to learn, to grow and to pursue your dreams and we hope that you do so.”

The parents of Dreamers have already been encouraged to ignore federal law and stay in the country illegally, and now the Dreamers are being told it’s okay for them to do the same once DACA is repealed. Democrats are the party of lawlessness.
