If there is anything to learn from all of the recent flare ups over free speech at America's college campuses is that students aren't all that interested in the protections of the First Amendment, at least for those they don't agree with.

Now, there's Pew data to back that up, and here's what they found: 40% of millennials want the government to ban offensive speech. The millennials that are pining most for censorship are between the ages of 18 and 34, mostly women, Democrat, non-white, and aren't well educated:

A Pew spokesperson noted in an e-mail to New York Magazine that this is the first time the question was asked with the specific language of "offensive statements about minorities." NYM speculates about what the result would be if it just said "offensive speech," believing that would change the outcome without the loaded word "minorities." 

But the data speaks for itself and certainly shows how the trend for American millennials is reaching fast towards European nations on the same subject. The chart below shows six nations that are also largely in favor of government-censored speech:
