Joining the chorus of Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, who recently said he is more frightened by white guys with guns than Syrian refugees, is Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) who said white men with guns are more of a threat than Middle Eastern terrorists.
Speaking to a radio audience last week, Brown offered his assessment of current threats both foreign and domestic:
I think most of us recognize that we’re concerned [about Syrian refugees] but we also know that we trust the FBI and our security forces to do this right. Since the beginning of the Bush administration when we were attacked, September 11, we’ve not had any major terrorist attack in this country. We’ve had individual crazy people; normally, they look more like me than they look like Middle Easterners. They are generally white males, who have shot up people in movie theaters and schools. Those are terrorist attacks; they’re just different kinds of terrorists.
No they're not. "Individual crazy people" who shoot up movie theaters are not terrorists unless they have an explicitly social/political/religious motivation or goal. Mass shootings are a serious concern, no doubt. But a narrative is being propagated by those on the left who want the random crazy white male with a gun to seem more of a threat to voters than the Muslims who have declared war on us. Who aim 747s at our buildings. Who place bombs full of ball bearings and nails in a crowd. There is a difference.
