While giving the commencement address at Pomona College in Southern California, President Obama's senior advisor Valerie Jarrett slipped in a "joke" regarding her ability to spy on people through the internet.

In the latter half of her 23 minute speech, Jarrett encouraged the graduates to run for office, saying there is a great need in Washington for "decency rather than coarseness." But she cautioned them about using the Internet because the government can find out anything it wants about future employees.  

Jarrett said:

But also remember, before I hire anybody, I always check out everything that they've been doing online. And believe me, we have ways of finding out everything you've been doing online.

The audience did not seem shocked at her statement as they laughed along. Once the laughter subsided, Jarrett added, "That was actually funnier than I intended it to be."
