A new school in Atlanta is in the works to be opened by autumn of 2015 and will be mainly accepting gays, lesbians, and transgender students.
The school is called Pride School Atlanta, and the school says they will provide a place where people from all walks of life can be educated, knowing that being who they are will not be a problem and harassment will be a non-factor.
"I want a place where queer and trans families can bring their kids and not have to worry about being the token lesbian family or the token gay family," said Christian Zsilavetz, a married father of two.
"It's an intentional safe space for kids for youth who want to learn and not have to worry about homophobic remarks every day," he said.
Another person joining the group of Atlantans is Kara Vona, a heterosexual who has been teaching for 15 years.
"It's not going to make everything better for every kid everywhere," she said. "This is a small school that's going to serve a small community but it's going to serve them really well."
According to NBC, the school will be located at Rock Springs Presbyterian Church on Piedmont Road, but until more funding is raised, the school is just a dream.
Tuition would start at $12k a year per student and will feature classes from Pre-K to 8th Grade.
