MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle has just marginalized anyone who has a life-threatening disease by comparing it to — gasp — being a woman.
Ruhle made the ridiculous equation on Tuesday when talking about the GOP healthcare bill with her guest, liberal blogger Jeff Jarvis, who mentioned his very serious pre-existing conditions including prostate and thyroid cancer and a heart condition. But not wanting him to get a leg up, Ruhle stated she, too, has a pre-existing condition: her gender classification:
“Jeff Jarvis doesn’t get to win the pre-existing condition battle because you’re on my show. And I, too, have a pre-existing condition — I’m a woman.”
Correction, your pre-existing condition is having no heart, because you just downgraded cancer, heart disease, blindness, asthma, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, and tuberculosis to being born a girl. We're sure the children who are experiencing the horror of some of these diseases feel your pain, Stephanie.
Ruhle's trite apology can be expected on Wednesday.
