National correspondent for MSNBC Joy Reid accused conservative outlets of "stoking racial resentment" because they cover stories about white people who pretend to be black.

In a round two-type situation similar to the disgraced NAACP chapter president Rachel Dolezal being exposed as white, key "Black Lives Matter" figure Shaun King's race was brought into question last week by Breitbart News and other conservative sources as they discovered his claim to be biracial isn't supported by birth certificate evidence or testimony by family and friends who say he is fully white. 

But in a recent televised segment, Reid doesn't appear concerned that a prominent figure in a blacks-only movement is lying about his identity and that it can be proven. She is instead targeting "right-wing websites" for having an agenda:

Well first of all, we need to set the stage here, which is the three right-wing websites -- the right-wing blogs -- that went after Shaun King should be familiar to many people because of a simple name the people should remember, which is Shirley Sherrod. And I think before mainstream media takes too seriously the claims of right-wing websites that do have a political/racial agenda, they are stoking racial resentment for their audience, it's what they do. You should remember what happened to Shirley Sherrod at the hands of the late Andrew Breitbart. I think this is a similar situation. 

Because King is an activist and speaks out against police brutality and because they have a "resentment against" the "Black Lives Matter" movement, Reid insists, "That makes you a target of the right."

Of course, this ignores the fact that CNN's Don Lemon has also been reporting on this story and trying to get to the bottom of King's convoluted story. Because apparently only right-wingers can have agendas.

And how does Reid know that King is indeed biracial? Because of the evidence? No, because she talked to him:

That said, I did talk to Shaun. I can tell you that Shaun King is bi-racial. There’s no reason to doubt that he’s biracial. The stories about what he said regarding getting his scholarship et cetera, I think you have to consider the source. I don't think they're credible, absent any actual reporting. And the story essentially is that the two people who are listed on Shaun King's birth certificate, his mom and his dad, his mother is his biological mother. The man listed on his birth certificate is not his biological father. 

Reid concluded, saying this is "a very private story between his mom, his dad, and the person who is his biological father."
