Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) is the highest-paid actress in Hollywood, making $52 million this year. That's almost $20 million MORE than the second highest-paid female, Black Widow, a.k.a. Scarlett Johansson, who made a paltry $35.5 million. If you compare Lawrence with all actors worldwide, she is second only to Iron Man himself, Robert Downey, Jr. That means she out-earned Jackie Chan, Vin Diesel, and Tom Cruise. Furthermore, she will be making $8 million more than Hollywood's current leading man, Chris Pratt, as they co-star in the upcoming sci-fi movie Passengers.

So naturally, the actress is complaining about the gender pay gap in Hollywood. And she did so through no other source than that bastion of the left, Lena Dunham.

Dunham has launched a subscribe-only newsletter titled Lenny and invited Lawrence to pen an op-ed about the movie industry underpaying women. A link to her article will not be included here as an e-mail address is required to read it, and it's assumed that like me, no one is willing to sign up.

But liberal outlet Mic.com did, and so provided are quotes from Lawrence's gripe:

When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with dicks, I didn't get mad at Sony. I got mad at myself. I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early. I didn't want to keep fighting over millions of dollars that, frankly, due to two franchises, I don't need.

[Mic indicates that she expounds on her lack of negotiating skills as she learned her male co-stars in the movie "American Hustle" got slightly bigger cuts in the deal. But she didn't push for more at the time because she didn't want to be perceived as "difficult."]

Based on the statistics, I don't think I'm the only woman with this issue. Could there still be a lingering habit of trying to express our opinions in a certain way that doesn't "offend" or "scare" men?

I wasn't completely wrong when another leaked Sony email revealed a producer referring to a fellow lead actress in a negotiation as a "spoiled brat." For some reason, I just can't picture someone saying that about a man.

And we won't be saying it here about you, Jennifer. But we might be thinking it.
