On Monday's Today on NBC, an irate Hillary Clinton roared that she would have never treated Republicans the way she has been treated over her private e-mail scandal and especially not the way they vilified her over Benghazi.

She was asked specifically if the tables were turned and Karl Rove or Dick Cheney had a private e-mail account to conduct government business, would she be as understanding in that scenario? She gave a very calculated political answer.

Until recently (meaning before falling in the polls), Clinton has regularly dodged taking credible responsibility for conducting government business via private channels. But as she has become more open to admitting that decision was a terrible one (and hopefully boost those numbers),  she wasn't as keen on discussing it on Today as she was capitalizing on a campaign gift given by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) who seemingly admitted that the Benghazi Special Committee's purpose was not to uncover the truth behind the death of four Americans, but to hurt Clinton as a presidential candidate. 

Clinton seemed quite sure that she would certainly have followed the Golden Rule if the roles were reversed:

I would have never done that! Look at the situation they chose to exploit, to go after me for political reasons: the death of four Americans in Benghazi. I knew the ambassador. I identified him. I asked him to go there. I asked the president to nominate him.

This committee was set up, as they have admitted, for the purpose of making a partisan, political issue out of the deaths of four Americans. I would have never done that! And if I were president -- and there were Republicans or Democrats who were thinking about that -- I would have done everything to shut it down.
