Comedian and actor Ed Helms delivered the commencement address at the University of Virginia on Friday, and took part of his speech to tear Rolling Stone a new one for their fake campus rape story, a story which they later retracted and apologized for.

Now I know the UVA community has some experience with being defined by outsiders. It has been said that a rolling stone gathers no moss. I would add that sometimes a rolling stone also gathers no verifiable facts or even the tiniest morsels journalistic integrity. Rolling Stone tried to define you this year. As a result not only was this community thrown deep into turmoil but the incredibly important struggle to address sexual violence on campuses nationwide was suddenly more confusing than ever and needlessly set back. And sadly Rolling Stones rushed to define is just the tip of the iceberg we see it everywhere in the media.

Helms went on to address his larger point about applying labels to people unfairly, particularly by the media, and touched on the riots in Baltimore. "Either way, the reductive labels aren't helping and we better stop applying them because there are a lot of Americans in a lot of pain," he said.

And either way, the story has served to raise awareness about an extremely important issue in America: the casual disregard for facts that invades our media every day in pursuit of hallowed liberal agendas and treasured left-wing talking points. At long last, to at least some extent, people are finally talking about it.
