Did Trump Promise Carson a Job in Exchange for an Endorsement?

“Is it a cabinet position, sir?”

Former presidential candidate and current Donald Trump surrogate Dr. Ben Carson suggested on Newsmax TV that he was promised a role in a Trump administration in exchange for endorsing the reality TV show star.

“I will be doing things … Certainly in an advisory capacity,” he said.

“That’s been determined?” host Steve Malzberg asked. “When you sat down with him, that was discussed?”

“Yes,” Carson said.

“And do you want to tell us, would it be advisory toward medicine, toward education?” Malzberg inquired.

“We haven’t hammered out all the details, but it is very important that we work together in this country,” Carson responded.

“Is it a cabinet position, sir?” Malzberg asked.

“Again, I’m not going to reveal any details about it right now because all of this is still very liquid,” Carson said.

The Freedom Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Therefore we do not endorse political candidates either in primary or general elections. However, as defenders of America’s social contract, we insist that the rules laid down by both parties at the outset of campaigns be respected, and that the results be decided by free elections. We will oppose any attempt to rig the system and deny voters of either party their constitutional right to elect candidates of their choice.
