You might recall Wes Bellamy, the vice-mayor of Charlottesville and member of the Virginia Board of Education who will only refer to President Trump as "45," and who has been an outspoken activist in the "resistance."

Well, he was just forced to resign from his position with the Albemarle School Board over racist tweets he made over a period of years. The local ABC affiliate reports:

"I do not think that returning to the high school this year is the right thing to do for the young people at the high school," Bellamy said in his statement. "We have to ensure that our students have the best possible learning environment, and I do not want to do anything that will compromise that." 

Bellamy was a career and technical education instructor, teaching computer science.

Bellamy, who is also the vice-mayor of Charlottesville, recently came under fire due to a series of tweets he sent over a period of years.

The tweets have been described as racist and disparaging of women.

Following the release of the tweets, he voluntarily resigned from his spot on the Virginia Board of Education.

Bellamy was placed on administrative leave from AHS pending an investigation by the Albemarle County School Board.

In his statement, Bellamy stressed that while he was resigning, he would still be present in the lives of his students.

"I will still be at your games, I will still be at your school events, I will still be there to help you with words of encouragement, and I will still be following closely watching to ensure that you are doing everything that you can do be successful," Bellamy's statement said.

In an email, Albemarle County schools said, "We agree with his decision to resign and the focus he placed in his statement on the best interests of his family and our students." 

Bellamy did not offer any additional comment to the news outlet. As always with the Left, it's do as I say, not as I do.
