CA Politician Directly Blames NRA for Mass Shootings, Yet Wants Sanctuary State

His platform is hypocrisy.

This week, California assemblyman Evan Low posted video to Facebook of himself shooting clay at the Los Altos Rod and Gun Club and writing, “Bang bang pow pow.” He’s a pretty good shot, too. It appears he regularly enjoys his Second Amendment rights and even included the “real” gun emoji in his post similar to the one Apple banned and replaced with a water gun. This is all very strange, because he continually strips away the right to keep and bear arms from law-abiding citizens and is no fan of the National Rifle Association — an organization which vociferously defends Low’s right to own and use guns but one he holds directly responsible for mass shootings.

A few days after the Islamic terror attack last year in Orlando, Low confronted NRA lobbyist Dan Reid during a hearing and told him, “It’s very difficult for me to sit here and look at you in the eyes and have respect for you, sir, Dan, because – not only because of lives that have been cut because of your organization, mothers and fathers, but many lives have been shattered by it.”

Low then read off a few names of the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting, noting they couldn’t be there because they were dead and accused Reid of murder: “Of course, the reason they were murdered was because of basically your organization, which has vigorously lobbied to allow for these things to occur and to acquire weapons.”

The assemblyman never mentioned Islam, just the organization that supports his right to go to the gun range and enjoy a day of sport.

But there’s another depth to Low’s double-mindedness in that he is a staunch proponent of turning California into a sanctuary state for illegal aliens, many of whom commit violent crimes. RedState’s Jennifer Van Laar ruthlessly ravaged him on this bit of hypocrisy:

It’s a shame the gun range owner didn’t turn you away. When you were there, did you ask any of your fellow shooters how the laws you’ve sponsored and lobbied for have affected their lives?

But if we’re going to use your logic, sir, Evan, do you feel any shame or responsibility for the people who were murdered by illegal immigrants? You are one of the leading voices in the effort to make California a “sanctuary state.” I’m asking on behalf of Kate Steinle, who couldn’t be here today because she was murdered by an illegal immigrant who was released from a San Francisco jail without a detainer being honored.

And, sir, Evan, I have a question on behalf of Officer Keith Boyer, who couldn’t be here today because he was murdered by a criminal who was given early release from jail due to realignment policies you support. How do you feel these “reforms” are helping Californians?

Boom! Or as Low likes to say, “Bang bang pow pow.”

When Low isn't busy enjoying the very gun rights he wants to take from others, he's busy going after President Trump. As reported at the Los Angeles Times, “Assemblyman Evan Low (D-Campbell) introduced a resolution on Wednesday asking the president to resign from office — and if he doesn't, calling on Congress to impeach him.”

Earlier in the week, the assembly also approved Low’s resolutions to abolish the Electoral College.

Good luck, California.
