For some reason, Al Jazeera America felt that the current debate over illegal immigration would not be complete without adding the voice of the Ku Klux Klan to the mix.

AJA's Reporter Robert conducted the all-important interview with two Klansmen dressed in full-hooded regalia, to complete the desired impact of the scare tactic optics. Here's some of the wisdom delivered by "Imperial Grand Wizard" (whose name we won't repeat because he's a hateful bigot who doesn't deserve space on this website):

These people are criminals to begin with when they come to our country. When they get here and cross our borders, they're breaking the law. So once they get across the borders, they're gonna continue to break the law and bring with them Third World diseases.

If we can’t turn ‘em back, I think if we pop a couple of ‘em off and leave the corpses laying on the border, maybe they’ll see that we’re serious about stopping immigration.

Of course, the hateful notion of shooting children at the border and leaving their corpses as a signal to others has caught the attention of many sites.

To "report" that members of the KKK have hateful and despicable ideas is the epitome of writing a "Dog Bites Man" story. The larger question should be: Why are news organizations even asking for comments from an irrelevant, hateful relic of the past? Why would AJA think that Klansmen had anything constructive to add to the border crisis debate?

Of course, the answer lies in the agenda behind media outlets trying to paint those who wish America to have strongly enforced borders as being on the same side as the KKK.
