Republican GOP candidate Dr. Ben Carson recently said that “The likelihood of Hitler being able to accomplish his goals would have been greatly diminished if the people had been armed.”
Six Million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust – if they had guns, it would have been more difficult to kill them. Logical to think that those with weapons can fight better than those without them, right? Then again, when the super-left-wing are confronted by a Republican with logic, the left often loses their mind.
The backlash against Carson has been outrageous. The left wing Forward newspaper called his comments “profoundly anti-Semitic, immoral and disgusting.” Columnist Dennis Prager rightfully noted today, “What does wishing that Europe’s Jews had been better equipped to fight have to do with blaming the Jews? And what could possibly be anti-Semitic about wishing that Europe’s Jews had been armed?”
The national director of the Anti-Defamation League, Jonathan A. Greenblatt – a former Obama aide – issued a press release claiming that “the notion that Hitler’s gun-control policy contributed to the Holocaust is historically inaccurate.” He added that “gun control did not cause the Holocaust; Nazism and anti-Semitism did.”
The ADL ignores the fact that Carson didn’t claim that gun control caused the Holocaust, and also don’t mention that for many years, the ADL website notes, “The Anti-Defamation League has been an advocate for strong, effective and sensible gun control legislation.” This issue is not about Carson – it’s about the ADL resolutely being opposed to guns.
While the ADL is quick to point out that the Holocaust wasn’t caused by gun control, they blame school violence, horrific church shootings and more on the lack of gun control. So, madmen with guns cause damage, yet sane people with guns can’t prevent damage? Explain that one.
In the days after the Charleston shooting, the head of the ADL published an op-ed on The Huffington Post stating:
“Simply put, guns in the hands of extremists — guns in the hands of white supremacists, guns in the hands of bigots — are a clear and present danger. To this danger, we must add the threats posed by other shooters with malice in their hearts and guns in their hands: school shooters, workplace shooters, family and domestic violence shooters, as well as all the others responsible for so many thousands of gun deaths each year in America.
"When it comes to guns, Americans can no longer afford to look the other way, or to shrug and say we are powerless to change the situation. For us at the Anti-Defamation League, we have recognized the danger of the proliferation of guns in our society as long ago as 1967. And in 1971 and again in 1999 we urged new restrictions on gun possession, including the adoption of federal and state initiatives designed to make it more difficult for children and extremists to access guns.”
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is the Jewish wing of the Democratic Party. They support “comprehensive immigration reform”, and in January 2012, the head of the ADL, Abraham Foxman said to a Republican candidate that "religious appeals to voters are simply unacceptable and un-American." The ADL issued a press release claiming that among the “Top 10 issues affecting Jews in 2014” was "Racial Bias in the Criminal Justice System."
As the grandson of Holocaust survivors, as someone who lost more than 70 family members in the Holocaust, I wish the Jews who were killed in the Holocaust had had guns.
Dr. Ben Carson was right about Jews and guns – and if someone seeks to kill millions of Jews in ovens again, put me on the side of those with guns. The ADL can side with the rest.
