In front of a small crowd in his home state of Ohio, House Majority Leader John Boehner took to mocking his Republican colleagues on their lack of desire to deal with immigration reform.
I don’t know whether we’re going to get to it this year or not. I think we should, but the appetite... the appetite amongst my colleagues for doing this is not real good. Now this guy’s back here with the camera, but here’s the attitude:
(acting as if he’s crying) Oooohhhh, don’t make me do this! Ooohhhh, this is too hard! (crowd laughs)
You should hear ‘em. (he laughs) You know, we get elected to make choices...
Though the Senate passed an immigration reform bill last year with the help of the "Gang of Eight," including John McCain and Marco Rubio, the bill has stalled in the GOP-led House. Republicans have several reasons for pushing off immigration reform, not the least of which is the midterm elections and a deep mistrust of the administration's willingness to perform its duties to curb illegal immigration and enforce illegal immigrant laws among businesses.
