Rosie Returns: O'Donnell Back On 'The View'

Replaces departing Jenny McCarthy, Sherri Shepherd

Rosie O'Donnell is returning to daytime television. TMZ is reporting that O'Donnell is returning to ABC's The View, which she left seven years ago after a tumultuous though popular tenure on the all-female talk show.

One article on Rosie's rumored return noted that her tenure on the show ushered in a more combative and politically slanted tone to the show:

O'Donnell had a high-rated and fiery time on the ABC chatfest when she squared off against Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Donald Trump. But O'Donnell left "The View" in 2007 after less than a year with the show. Hasselbeck is now at "Fox & Friends."

Whoopi Goldberg replaced O'Donnell as moderator on "The View." Goldberg and O'Donnell could be counted on to provide liberal views.

TMZ is also reporting that View producers are seeking a female and Latina to round out the cast. Last month reports surfaced that the show might consider adding a male host for the first time.
