The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) compared women's rights to chickens' rights on Twitter yesterday, opening up the organization to some serious mockery.
“Discrimination is discrimination,” the quote read, “whether you’re a woman or a chicken.”
One person responded by asking if chickens should have voting rights as well.
@peta this honestly sounds like you're saying women and chicken are the same. Shall we give them voting rights too?— stebe (@mcbinch) June 14, 2016
PETA responded by saying that chickens do not need the right to vote but they do need "equal consideration."
@mcbinch Chickens don't need the right to vote, they need equal consideration of their interests.— PETA (@peta) June 14, 2016
Twitter responded with sarcastic quips.

.@peta I gave equal consideration to ribs or a blackened chicken sandwich as lunch options. Does that count?— (((Popehat))) (@Popehat) June 14, 2016
