Obama: Trump Will Not Be President

Trump mocks Obama.

President Barack Obama says he doesn't think Donald Trump will succeed him in the Oval Office.

Speaking with reporters at the ASEAN Leaders Summit in California, Obama said he doesn't think Trump will win the general election come November. He said he has faith in the American people as they decide who is best to hold a "serious job":

"I continue to believe Mr. Trump will not be president. And the reason is because I have a lot of faith in the American people... It’s not hosting a talk show, or a reality show. It’s not promotion, it’s not marketing,. It’s hard and a lot of people count on us getting it right."

Trump responded to Obama's non-endorsement with glee at an event in South Carolina. Saying one of the networks had called him for reaction on his way to the event, Trump said he told them, "You're lucky I didn't run last time when Romney ran or you would have been a one-term president."

"It's a great compliment," Trump said of Obama's comments.

Far from hurting Trump, Obama's comments are likely to help him with voters.
