President Obama held a dinner for “top lawmakers” Wednesday night to discuss his plans for unilateral executive action on amnesty. On the list: Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, leaders of several congressional caucuses, and miscellaneous aides. Not on the list: Republicans.
What exactly the president told the Democratic leadership is unclear as those attending were “not authorized to speak publicly about the plans.” The Washington Post reports:
Obama has invited Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the leaders of the congressional Asian, Black and Hispanic caucuses, said the aides, who were not authorized to speak publicly about the plans.
Obama did not invite GOP leaders to the meeting, according to aides.
