Lawmakers Approve Fewer Gun Restrictions - For Themselves

Do as we say, not as we do.

The Louisiana House Criminal Justice Committee voted 10-2 on a new bill that would exempt lawmakers from the many weapons restrictions imposed on the residents of the state.

The bill by Sen. Bret Allain (R) would allow lawmakers to carry firearms wherever law enforcement can on condition they go through annual training and are deemed mentally fit.

Allain said that because legislatures are routinely threatened, they should be able to defend themselves.

The proposal is now going to the House.
