Jon Stewart kicked off his Tuesday night program with an immediate assault on conservatives for their criticism of Food Stamps, particularly their criticisms of the rise in Food Stamp recipients under President Obama's tenure and the rise in fraud that has accompanied the increase.

Stewart began by mocking the new Farm Bill recently passed by Congress and it's plan to cut $8.6 billion dollars in Food Stamps during the next decade, implying that opponents of the program are either completely ignorant or apathetic towards the alleged fact that Food Stamps are "a form of assistance that allows those who are hungry to be less so."

Stewart then asked his audience why any politician would oppose such a compassionate program and proceeded to relay several clips of Fox News commentators highlighting the rise in Food Stamp fraud cases such as recipients buying expensive dinners, iPads, and even gambling in Vegas. Stewart responded to their grievance as follows:

Yes, you do hear all these stories. Whether or not they are true, or indicative of widespread abuse is not really the point here, because you hear them. As a reporter on a news network, it's your job to pass them along through your mouth hole. As your slogan says 'Fox News -- we read the chain mails your grandma gets in her inbox out loud like they were true.' So, other than gambling, what else have you heard about people doing wrong with their food stamps?

Stewart then played several clips of Fox News commentators criticizing the high levels of junk food people have bought with Food Stamps. Stewart replied:

The point is taken...'you're poor, and out of the goodness of our collective hearts, we've given you a food stamp. The least you could do is spend it on healthy fresh nutritious food like seafood. People say eat more fish. If you use it for that, the Fox hounds would have no problem.'

Stewart then attempted to paint their arguments against junk food as hypocritical by playing several news clips where they attacked those who've used Food Stamps to buy lobster, crab, and organic salmon. Stewart does not specify exactly how that makes them hypocrites given that not a single Fox News commentator was quoted saying they wished people bought more seafood.
