Hollywood actor and director Rob "Meathead" Reiner posted a tweet Sunday reminding the world that his nickname needn't come only from his past sitcom All in the Family; the moniker fits, if merely due to his political ideology.
Concerning the weekend's government shutdown -- wherein Democrats attempted to stick to their guns over issues related to illegal immigration -- Reiner had this to say:
"Make no mistake, this shutdown boils down to one thing: RACISM. GOP frightened to death of the browning of America. They will lose this last big battle of the Civil War. Diversity is our strength."
Uhhh, no. For one thing, despite the constant ravings of left-wingers on the subject, diversity in and of itself is not a strength; it is merely diversity. Secondly, it is heavily ironic to open a statement with "make no mistake" and then follow it with nothing but mistakes. Thirdly, Republicans do not fear the "browning of America." Nor do they fear any particular race. Given Democrats' furor over DACA and their hatred for the wall, they seem to fear the rule of law and the principle of national sovereignty. As President Trump has said, "If we don't have borders, we don't have a country."
Reiner can't be concerned with practical political realities, however; he's too busy race-baiting and standing up for criminals. Thankfully, the rest of Twitter is there to pick up his substantial slack:

Reiner also spoke at the Women's March over the weekend. We look forward to his next film, Stand By #MeToo.
