When Donald Trump says that Syrian refugees need to go home and rebuild their country, he's a bigot. But when the Dalai Lama says it...
Yes, the famed Buddhist monk revered by bleeding hearts the world over told Piers Morgan on ITV's Good Morning Britain:
"The main effort should go to help their own country bring peace, in Syria, Libya or even Afghanistan. Generally the people always feel, 'Oh, one day we return'," the Dalai Lama told Morgan. "[They] should rebuild their own country."
This is not the first time the Dalai Lama has expressed similar views concerning the refugee crisis. Back in may the esteemed Buddhist cleric said that while we can all feel the suffering of refugees -- particularly women and children -- "on the other hand, there are too many at the moment."
"Europe -- Germany in particular -- cannot become an Arab country. Germany is Germany," the Dalai Lama said plainly.
During the same interview, however, the Dalai Lama also chided Trump, making it clear that while they may agree on the refugee situation, he does not have many other views in common with the Republican nominee. Of course the mainstream media only latched on to that part, and the Internet is full of clips from this interview in which the Dalai Lama "mocks Trump" with his best impersonation.
Few clips about the Dalai Lama's views on refugees as presented in this interview have been made available online.
