CNN may have been the most popular cable news network during the Democratic National Convention but they have fallen hard since then, coming up a distant third in a three-horse race.
Numbers published by Ad Week show CNN losing to Fox News and to MSNBC in overall viewers and amongst the coveted 25-54 year-old demographic during prime-time for Tuesday's ratings. While CNN ties MSNBC with 187,000 average viewers per hour in the 25-54 demo across the full day, they trail MSNBC 305,000 to 232,000 across the same demo in primetime. Both stations trail well behind Fox News.
CNN's drop comes during a time that some have described as non-stop Trump bashing on the network.
Meanwhile Fox News pulls in an average of 2 million viewers across all age groups in primetime compared to 1.4 million for MSNBC and 807,000 for CNN.
Bill O'Reilly continues to host the most-watched cable news show with 2.2 million viewers for his 8 p.m. slot and another 1 million at 11 p.m. on Tuesday night.
