Chris Matthews as Speaker 'Irks' Ohio State Students

“[W]e don’t know who this guy is, we don’t care about this guy."

Chris "Thrill Up My Leg" Matthews, host of Hardball on MSNBC and hardcore Obama sycophant, has been procured to give the 2014 spring commencement speech at Ohio State University, but some students are finding the choice "irksome," according to The Columbus Dispatch.

In the report, Taylor Stepp, president of the undergraduate student government, is quoted as saying many students are complaining about Matthews's liberal views and the fact that the university did not "draw a bigger name." Stepp's quote:

The response from students is simply that we don’t know who this guy is, we don’t care about this guy. And the fact that Mr. Matthews obviously has a very liberal leaning and he’s not even a public official was irksome to me.

To no one's surprise, Ohio State's Leaders of the College Democrats group defended Matthews and expect him to deliver a "strong message, free of politics." The university is also defending its pick, calling Matthews "one of the most-experienced journalists in the country."

The report notes that usually a committee of students and staff pick each year's commencement speaker, however this year, an OSU spokesman said they had to abandon the normal selection process for a more "streamlined approach."

Other speakers listed as past OSU commencement speakers include Barack Obama, John Boehner and Susan Rice.
