The woman who last month banned Muslims from entering her gun range could possibly be investigated by Eric Holder for violating federal laws prohibiting racial and religious discrimination.
Jennifer Wicks, a lawyer for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) sent a letter to AG Eric Holder, asking him to investigate Jan Morgan:
I am writing to ask that the U.S. Department of Justice investigate Jan Morgan and her gun range “The Gun Cave Indoor Firing Range” for banning all Muslims from her business and declaring it a “Muslim-free zone.” Her gun range is located at 1225 Blacksnake Road in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The business number is (501) 767-9944.
Ms. Wicks continues to explain to Holder that when Morgan received her FFL (Federal Firearms License), she was instructed by the ATF that if she felt any sort of reservations about an individual that it is “better to err on the side of caution,” but Ms. Morgan is abusing that power:
Ms. Morgan notes having been told by ATF agents, when receiving her federal firearms license, that “if we feel any reason for concern about selling someone a firearm, even sense that something is not right about an individual, or if we are concerned about that persons mental state, even if they pass a background check, we do not have to sell that person a gun. Two different ATF agents stressed that it is better to err on the side of caution.” Ms. Morgan appears to be misinterpreting the advice given to her and refusing service to all Muslims, which cannot be a correct interpretation of compliance with federal gun laws and the U.S. Constitution.
Wicks ends the letter by informing Holder that “CAIR believes that systematically banning Muslims from a place of business is a violation of federal laws prohibiting racial and religious discrimination and will inevitably result in a hostile environment for ordinary Muslims in Arkansas,” and that she “urge[s] you to investigate this matter soon.”
Yahoo News reports that besides sending the letter to Holder, CAIR also sent the letter to the Governor of Arkansas, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas and the ATF's Little Rock field office.
But Morgan is not backing down. A post on her Facebook page not only calls out CAIR for having terrorist ties but she also says this fight is something she is willing to die for.
“CAIR, (which has documented ties with the terrorist organization, HAMAS) has sent a letter asking Eric Holder and the Justice Department to do something about me.
Imagine that. Of course, their letter seeking the investigation, contains one lie after another..
I dissect their post in my article below.
By the way, isn't falsifying information to a law enforcement agency, illegal? (I'll deal with CAIR on that one later)..
It’s easy for CAIR to bully and threaten average American citizens like me who have a business to lose and a life to destroy. It's what they do.
We are the easy targets.
I’ve been a target of Islamist threats for five years..fully expecting at any time one of them to follow through with the threat.
I may go down for speaking the truth about Islam... … I may lose everything I have, (which isn't much) but they can't take my integrity...
This is a mountain I’m willing to die on….”
