On Wednesday, liberal documentary activist Michael Moore announced that he had gone down to Trump Tower in New York and held up a sign outside that read "We Are All Muslim" in protest of Donald Trump's call to temporarily halt Muslim immigration. Because, really, that's what brave men do. And then they brag about it on Facebook.
This was not only a photo-op for Moore's latest cause, but an opportunity to remind Trump of their first meeting in 1998 when they were both scheduled to appear on an unspecified talk show. According to Moore's post, Trump was scared of the man from Flint, Michigan and was worried about being embarrassed by him on air. Moore remembered thinking, "What a wuss." (This from a guy that isn't holding his sign in front of an ISIS stronghold.)
But Moore wasn't only after Trump, his post targeted all "angry white guys." Especially those who support the Republican front-runner and are also "frightened by a bogeyman... ALL MUSLIMS." Moore even conjured up a statistic to show how Trump doesn't stand a chance in 2016:
Here's a statistic that is going to make your hair spin: Eighty-one percent of the electorate who will pick the president next year are either female, people of color, or young people between the ages of 18 and 35. In other words, not you. And not the people who want you leading their country.
And so according to Moore, "We are all Muslim," just like "we are all Mexican, we are all Catholic and Jewish and white and black and every shade in between." You know, logic.
At the end of his post, Moore called on others to sign the statement "WE ARE ALL MUSLIM" and post a photo with your own homemade sign and a hashtag to bravely post to social media. Moore plans on collecting them all and sending them to Trump, because that'll show him!
Here's a few responses so far:
And of course it's backfiring, too:
