As his Presidency gradually winds down (far too gradually for our taste), President Barack Obama today apparently is enjoying the highest approval rating he’s experience in-office since July 2009, according to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll.
As reported by Mediaite, Obama’s overall approval rate is at 58%, while his disapproval rate sits at 40%. This latter figure has peaked well beyond 50% in the past.
It's hard to fathom what explains this support. Is it his healing of America's racial divide? His peacemaking nuclear deal with Iran? His relentless commitment to improving his golf handicap?
Apart from Obama, these poll numbers are significant for Democratic party nominee Hillary Clinton, now less than two months before the general election. Among likely voters, 80% of those who approve of Obama's handling of his job support Hillary to replace him in the White House, according to ABC News.
However, WaPo does note that their poll numbers are higher than in other recent polls. A CNN/ORC poll from just weeks ago revealed a 51% approval rating for the President, while a Fox poll from the end of August put Obama at 54%.
Also for ABC/WaPo's consideration: an informal poll here at TruthRevolt puts Obama's approval rating at 0%.
