Tell Advertisers to Drop Lying Brian Williams

In an explosive revelation, NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams admitted Wednesday to Stars and Stripes that the story he has been peddling about surviving a March 24, 2003 helicopter hit in Iraq that grounded the helicopters was a lie. He stated for well over a decade that a helicopter he rode in Iraq was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade. That was false.

Not only has NBC told the story over the years, Williams had the gall to repeat the story last Friday in NBC’s coverage of a New York Rangers hockey game, a game that featured a tribute to a soldier that had provided ground security for the very helicopters Williams had claimed he was with.

Williams finally confessed only after crew members on the 159th Aviation Regiment’s Chinook, part of the formation Williams had claimed he was with, said Williams wasn’t with the formation at all. The Chinook took small arms fire, along with two other Chinooks. The crew members said Williams arrived roughly an hour after the Chinook was grounded, and left shortly thereafter.

Even in his apology Williams continued to mislead
