WH Advisor Podesta: Environmentalists 'Impractical'

"With all due respect to my friends in the environmental community, if they expect us to turn off the lights and go home, that’s sort of an impractical suggestion."

White House advisor John Podesta criticized environmentalists Wednesday during a roundtable discussion calling them "impractical" regarding their opposition to natural gas exportation.

Podesta, who is also chairman of the board of the ultra-liberal think tank Center for American Progress, has unleashed a website to propagate the White House's climate change agenda. Yet despite his clear association with environmentalists and climate change propaganda, his comments Wednesday may have tarnished his relationship with his so-called "friends."

When reporters asked Podesta to respond to a letter from 17 environmental groups imploring the Obama administration not to support exporting natural gas, he said:

If you oppose all fossil fuels and you want to turn that switch off tomorrow, that is a completely impractical way of moving toward a clean-energy future.

With all due respect to my friends in the environmental community, if they expect us to turn off the lights and go home, that’s sort of an impractical suggestion.
