The Emergency Committee for Israel (ECI) has launched a new advertising campaign questioning Republican North Carolina Congressman Walter Jones. According to an ad released by the right-wing political advocacy group, Jones has shifted in his approach to US foreign policy.
Here is the transcript of the ad:
Congressman Walter Jones once was a conservative but he's changed. Today he's the most liberal Republican in Congress. He preaches American decline. He opposes sanctions on Iran. He's endorsed an anti-Israel group and even refused to support a resolution declaring American support for Israel. Once upon a time Walter Jones was right for North Carolina but he's changed. Isn't it time your vote changed as well?
As The Daily Caller notes, many of Jones' supporters are conservative Christians who strongly back Israel. Jones was first elected in 1994 in a Republican landslide, but created distance between himself and many in the conservative base when he turned against the Iraq war in 2005. Jones represents a district with a heavily military population which includes the Marine's Camp Lejeune.
