Transgender Sues Catholic Hospital for Refusing Hysterectomy

"I felt completely disrespected as a person."

A biological woman posing as a man, something leftists now call "transgender," is suing a Catholic hospital for not performing a hysterectomy as part of her so-called "sex change," which clearly would have violated Catholic teaching.

"Jionni Conforti had scheduled the procedure at St. Joseph's in 2015," reports ChurchMilitant. "The hospital, according to Conforti's lawsuit, refused to do the surgery because the procedure would've violated its Catholic ethical guidelines."

Conforti, who began her so-called transition in 2004, describes feeling "disrespected" by the hospital for not violating its religious beliefs and buying into her delusion.

"I felt completely disrespected as a person," remarked. "That's not how any hospital should treat any person regardless of who they are. A hospital is a place where you should feel safe and taken care of. Instead, I felt like I was rejected and humiliated."

Conforti will be represented by gay rights organization Lambda Legal, who claim the hospital violated anti-discrimination laws.

"These health care providers must comply with federal and state anti-discrimination laws so that the health of LGBT people, who walk through their doors, is not endangered," said Omar Gonzalez-Pagan, staff attorney for Lambda Legal.

Some of the controversy stems from a nurse that allowed the procedure to be scheduled until being informed by hospital administration that Catholic teaching wouldn't allow it.

Father Martin Rooney, the hospital's Director of Mission Services, wrote in an email to Conforti that the operation could not be performed.

"This is to follow up to your email inquiring about scheduling a total hysterectomy here at St. Joseph's to remove all female parts based on the medical necessity for Gender Reassignment," he wrote. "This is to inform you that as a Catholic Hospital we would not be able to allow your surgeon to schedule this surgery here at St. Joseph's."

Pope Francis has repeatedly spoken out against transgenderism, calling it "terrible."

"Today, schools are teaching children — children! — that everyone can choose their own sex," he told Bishop's in Poland. "And why is this being taught? Because their textbooks are chosen by the people and institutions that give money. This is ideological colonization, promoted by very influential nations. This is terrible."
